The original is a 4x6 pen drawing and gouache painting of the famous martyr of the English reformation, St. Edmund Campion.
St. Edmund lived a heroic life as a Catholic priest during the English reformation in the 1570s. He gave up everything to shepherd his persecuted flock, and was perhaps the most famous priest-in-hiding during that time. He was a talented orator and effective preacher, and he was drawn and quartered by the orders of Queen Elizabeth I in 1581.
St. Edmund is a towering figure and an invaluable example of a man who suffered everything for the good of souls.
