With it being the 800th anniversary of St. Francis's death this year, I decided to make this year's Christmas card around him. St. Francis is the father of the nativity scene as we know it, and the nativity itself was a powerful devotion for the early Franciscans. A lesser-known piece of that story is that St. Francis had an ecstatic vision of the Holy Family, and in it the Blessed Virgin gave him the Christ child to hold in his arms. I depicted St. Francis here on his kneeler being transported back to the manger in Bethlehem, almost as if he were receiving Holy Communion, with Mary, the Mother of Priests, giving her Son to him while St. Joseph acts as the altar server carefully watching.
Each folding card is 5 x 7 inches on premium card stock with a blank inside, along with a brief description of this event and its significance on the back. Envelopes included. May not be reproduced or resold.
