Christmas Card (2023): Sts. Benedict and Scholastica before the Virgin and Child

The original is a sepia-toned 9 x 12 fountain pen piece. Sts. Benedict and Scholastica created the monastic system after the fall of Rome and are, in a large part, responsible for the survival of Western Europe during that time. I chose to depict them in a tender and intimate scene with the Blessed Virgin, who, in a sense, cradles the whole world in her arms.
